SJ's Bio

Here are words that my friends and colleagues use to describe me when asked in a Facebook post: passionate truth-teller, compassionate, fearless, hilarious, tenacious, intuitive, curious, leader, tireless advocate, sharer of knowledge, shame eraser, kind, accepting, honest, direct, real, down to earth, friendly, exudes deep, soulful joy, fierce, encouraging, silly, intentional, and visionary.

My first straight razor shave at True Heart Barber.

Hi, y'all! I'm SJ.

I'm a coach, consultant, and Soon to be Social Worker focused on fat liberation Based in Anti-Racism and Anti-Colonialism.

My writing is informed by a wide range of philosophies - Body Trust®, Health at Every Size®, Intuitive Eating, Fat Liberation, eating disorder recovery, harm reduction, and more! My goal is to share what I have learned from own journey with queer, trans, fat liberation. I don't have all the answers, but I'm super excited to share what I have learned so far. I’m committed to helping others finding more freedom and compassion in their lives and bodies

While I am super fat, trans non-binary, working-class, AuDHD and queer, I recognize that being white has afforded me many unearned privileges. I strive to listen and learn from experiences that differ from mine. I continually work to educate myself on my white privilege, and racial equity.

I started eating disorder recovery coaching in 2018, and have been working with queer, trans, autistic, ADHD, and/or fat clients ever since. A portion of my clients have ended up being therapists because our communities are so small and/or folks live in very small towns and don’t have someone in town to see. I think others like my radical approach to coaching. In January 2022, I started providing ADHD coaching and have loved every minute of it.

Everyone has a body story whether you’re fat or not and we all need help unpacking it. As of April, I have 2 months until I graduate with Master of Social Work. I am committed to being a lifetime learner of equity and liberation and unlearner of all the ways my whiteness and other areas of privilege show up in me and my business practices.

Here are some words that my friends and colleagues use to describe me: passionate truth-teller, compassionate, fearless, hilarious, tenacious, intuitive, curious, leader, tireless advocate, sharer of knowledge, shame eraser, kind, accepting, honest, direct, real, down to earth, friendly, exudes deep, soulful joy, fierce, encouraging, silly, intentional, and visionary. Obviously, I had a really hard time narrowing down to just a few.

I'm constantly wondering how I can contribute to healing, justice, and liberation in our world where there is constant suffering. I love working with people who are asking these same questions!

I have a particular interest in the intersection of eating disorders, movement, gender, race, power, privilege, and sexuality.

Do you want to join me in this quest of discovery? There are two ways:

I am not free while any woman is unfree, even when
her shackles are very different from my own.
